Guidelines for participation

  • Each school can participate in one or more projects.
  • Each Project must include (Title of Project, Objectives, Action Plan (Time – Activities – Resources), Action Taken = Research, Results / Solution, Recommendations, References)
  • Participating teachers and students are required to use the iEARN forums http://foro.iearn.org/ on weekly basis. Participation is not limited to introductions but more information about the project to be shared. Each school needs to have one school access and make it available to the students and teachers of the same school. By the end of each message, student need to write his/her name, age, and school name. Use of the forums is part of the project assessment rubric.
  • Schools can utilize and continue to work on last year’s project if they will handle community service and implement last year’s recommendations through this year project extension.
  • Each school is expected to be working collaboratively with another local and international school on the same iEARN project.
  • Participating schools are expected to submit quarterly reports on their progress in the projects.
  • Each students’ team is expected to nominate a Youth Representative, who will be representing their team and school on different occasions. This youth representative is expected to be in contact with the iEARN Egypt Local Youth Representative at least once per month to give an overview of the project and how things are developing within their school, problems, and suggestions.
  • Each team (teacher + students) is expected to participate in different professional development opportunities and events (e.g. training, conferences, exhibitions, debates, summits, etc.) which might necessitates traveling to another governorate or abroad.
  • iEARN teachers are expected to handle orientation and teacher training in their own schools and communities to other educators, students, parents and school administration.
  • For attending the iEARN International Conference, there will be criteria for selecting students and teachers, which is mainly based on students’ and teachers’ performance throughout the year and not only be based on their final products. Participation will be on the following basis:
    • Full scholarship
    • Partially scholarship 
    • Personal funding
  • New teachers need to have a minimum proficiency of English language to at least enable him/her to participate in the iEARN forums and communicate with the international society.
  • Teachers and students can think of new ideas to be implemented in new projects will need to fill out a project template and share it with the country coordinator and Local Youth Representative. If the idea is approved by iEARN International, then the new project can be implemented internationally and shared with all the 150 countries.
  • Final version of the project should be submitted in English and in a written (hard copy) form by the end March. The content of the project:

    • Topic
    • Date
    • School Name
    • Abstract/Summary
    • Materials submitted with the project
