A Dream That
CAME TRUE !
This year's int'l
annual conference& youth summit were held, for the first time in
the middle-east region ; in Egypt under the umbrella of the
E-era (the Egyptian Education and Resource Association), the
Egyptian NGO working in the field of education and youth
development Educator.
Educators &
Students from almost 70 countries came to Egypt to participate
in the youth summit and discover the Egyptian culture. It's was
truly a unique experience for them.
The iEARN int'l
youth summit was also a unique experience for the participating
Egyptian youth as they were responsible for organizing the event
from A-Z! The Summit Organizing Committee is one of the
conference organizing committees. It started its work in July-06
by setting the outline of the organizing committee and the
volunteers recruitment plan. 85 Egyptian volunteers from
different universities, schools and from different age groups
where responsible for organizing the youth summit and help in
the organization of the conference. The volunteers had to pass
many interviews and attend different trainings in order to be
ready for the event and up to the expectations.
Volunteers were
divided into different committees and started brainstorming for
the summit program and theme.

The Theme of the
summit was "Development". Our program was based on the idea of a
Journey , where participants can have the chance to develop
their skills , vision and attitude towards the world through
different stages and different means ; sessions , presentations
and lots and lots of fun activities aiming at reaching our all-
time objective; Development. The domains of development were
numerous ; community development , personal development where we
treated subjects that occupy the minds and hearts of the
participants age category (14-21) such as Self Esteem ,
respecting differences , Interpersonal and Human Communication
.....etc.

The program of
the summit was mainly divided into three categories; Core
Sessions related to the theme of the summit , Students'
Presentations and Various Organizations Sessions and finally
entertainment workshops and activities.
For the
Core session ,it was divided into four main sessions; Book Your
Ticket ,Fasten Your Seat Belt , Taking off and reaching the
destination. The sessions were developing throughout the summit
days from focusing on personal aspects to wider ones related to
the world around us. It was carried out by our volunteers , who
got trained in advance through advanced training methods and
materials of Training the trainers( T.O.T).
However , it
wasn't only the core sessions that helped reach our destination
, there were also the students' presentations given by Egyptian
and international participants. Participants had the chance of a
peer-to-peer experience as well as the different , reputable
national and International
NGOs who
presented their projects such as the UN AIDS ,Taking IT Global ,
INJAZ .... etc , also that gave the participants the chance to
explore the world around them and the efforts done and the means
to make it a better world through different interactive
workshops.
For the
entertainment, the program varied between ice breaking games ,
debates and discussions , sports competitions , karaoke shows ,
international culture activities as well as different workshops
such as Walk Like an Egyptian which aimed at giving the
international participants an insight on our culture, traditions
through music, movies and activities , also there was the
NO-Talent show , a brand new idea developed by the organizers
aiming at increasing the space for participants to express
themselves and explore their undiscovered artistic abilities and
skills such as acting , singing, improvisation and Dancing!
