» Guidelines for participation |
- For the description of each of the above projects, teachers and students
need to consult with the latest Project Description Book http://www.iearn.org/projects/projectbook.html for. In addition, you are requested to read and consult the project description (project announcement http://www.iearn.org/professional/prof_connections.html) from the iEARN website interactive forums. Each according to the project’s forum address.
- Each school can only participate in one project during 2007-2008 academic year.
- Each Project must include (Title of Project, Objective, Action Plan ( Time – Activities – Resources ), Action Taken = Research, Results / Solution, Recommendations, References)
- Participating teachers and students are required to use the iEARN forums http://foro.iearn.org/ on weekly basis. Participation is not limited to introductions but more information about the project to be shared. Each school needs to have one school access and make it available to the students and teachers of the same school. By the end of each message, student need to write his/her name, age, and school name. Use of the forums is part of the project assessment rubric.
- Projects will be assessed according to a rubric that is posted on our web site. However, each year iEARN Egypt updates it.
- Schools can utilize and continue to work on last year’s project IF they will handle community service and implement last year’s recommendations through this year project extension. However a written approval should be requested from iEARN Egypt office.
- Each school is expected to be working collaboratively with another local and international school on the same iEARN project.
- Participating schools are expected to submit quarterly reports on their progress in the iEARN program to iEARN office (info@iearnegypt.org). Therefore, each school is expected to submit a report by the end of December 07, March 08, and June 08.
- Each students’ team is expected to nominate a youth representative, who will be representing their team and school on different occasions. This youth representative is expected to be in contact with the iEARN Egypt Local Youth Representative sboard@iearnegypt.org at least once per month to give an overview of the project and how things are developing within their school, problems, and suggestions. He/she also needs to cc the office at (info@iearnegypt.org).
- Each team (teacher + students) is expected to participate in different professional development opportunities and events (e.g. training, conferences, exhibitions, debates, summits, etc.) which might necessitates traveling to another governorate or abroad.
- Team Leader should orient the school administration, subjects’ supervisors, and parents about iEARN and its activities and take necessary approvals. Attached please find a sample of school/parent approval form.
- iEARN teachers are expected to handle orientation and teacher training in their own schools and communities to other educators, students, parents and school administration.
- For attending the 15th iEARN International Conference, there will be criteria for selecting students and teachers, which is mainly based on students’ and teachers’ performance throughout the year and not only be based on their final products. Participation will be on the following basis:
- Full scholarship
- Partially scholarship
- Personal funding
- Schools have to register with iEARN Egypt by sending a filled application form listing the projects to be implemented and all contact information about students and teachers. For an application forms; please go to iEARN Egypt website www.iearnegypt.org
- Teachers’ team has to be at least of 3 educators (e.g. English, Math and Computer).
- New teachers need to have a minimum proficiency of English language to at least enable him/her to participate in the iEARN forums and communicate with the international society.
- Teachers and students can think of new ideas to be implemented in new projects http://www.iearn.org/professional/prof_connections.html#create will need to fill out
a project template and share it with the country coordinator. If the idea is approved
by iEARN International, then the new project can be implemented internationally and shared with all the 120 countries.
- Final version of the project should be submitted in English and in
a written (hard copy) form before June 1, 2008.
The content of the project:
A cover page is required and should include the following items:
- Topic
- Date
- School Name
- Abstract/Summary
- Materials submitted with the project
- Forum users are required to respond to other national forum users regularly. They are expected to back up each other. Your forum usage is:
